Today, Ellie Okikawa signed her letter of commitment to play volleyball for Amarillo College in Amarillo, Texas. Amarillo is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I and the Western Junior College Athletic Conference. While in school, Ellie plans to study psychology/counseling or physical therapy.
Ellie played volleyball for the Reagan Rattlers all four years, including this past season on the Varsity team. During her time at Reagan, she was recognized as TGCA Academic All State, THSCA Academic All-State Honorable Mention and Academic All District.
Reagan Head Coach, Rachel Torvik, commented, “Ellie is an athletic kid who worked hard on the court, in the weight room and on the track. She pushed herself with the team and on her own to become the best version of herself. I have always been impressed by her maturity and ability to build relationships with everyone including the underclassmen in the program. She is a great young woman and a great teammate. I can’t wait to cheer her on in her continued path playing the game she loves.”
Ellie also played club volleyball since second grade at several area clubs including Alamo, SA Magic, Ignite, and SA Elite.
In addition to volleyball, Ellie participated in FCA and worked part time. She will also graduate from Reagan with Summa Cum Laude honors.
We wish Ellie continued success as a Badger in the class and on the court!
