Reagan Aquatics Women and Men Strike Silver Twice At Districts, Set 2 New District Records, 1 Reagan Record, 4 Pool Records

The Reagan Women’s and Men’s swimming and diving team both won Silver at the UIL 26-6A District Championships today.  Combined, Reagan won 1st place with a score of 303, with Johnson placing 2nd with 285 points. The Women’s swimming and diving team placed second to Johnson by 9.5 points.  The Men’s swimming and diving team placed second to Churchill by 38 points.

All NEISD Senior athletes, including nine (9) Rattler seniors – Travis Barton, Margo Dunn, Adrian Langley,  Estevan Munoz, Tamia Rousey, Mark Shenouda, Erin Thornton, Maria Viramontes and Grace Zernhelt –  were recognized in a Parade of Athletes before competing in their last UIL District Champs meet.

The Aquatics team set 2 new District records, 1 Reagan school record, and 4 pool records, as follows:

  • Morgan Bartley:  50 Free (26-6A District record, Walker Pool record, and Reagan High School record [held since 2012])
  • Lea Nader:  500 Free (Walker Pool record)
  • Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay – Mark Shenouda, Len Ray, Travis Barton, Luke Prior (26-6A District record and Walker Pool record)
  • Women’s 400 Freestyle Relay – Morgan Bartley, Sophia La Beau, Elena Garcia, Kaylee Coffey (Walker Pool record)

Reagan Junior Alyssa Palacios was awarded Female “Diver of the Meet” and Junior Morgan Bartley was awarded Female “Swimmer of the Meet”.

The Reagan Aquatics team produced 7 individual and 2 relay District Champions, and will be sending 20 swimmers and 3 divers on to the Region VII – 6A swimming and diving championships on Friday and Saturday, January 31 and February 1st.
