Reagan Boys’ Varsity Wrestling won the District Championship for the second year in a row, scoring 184 team points and advancing nine wrestlers to next week’s Regional Tournament, with three Rattlers taking home the individual District Title. “I am so proud of our team,” Coach Paul Miller said. “This year this team has dealt with a ton of adversity, and our success is a direct reflection of the leadership of our Captains and the overall toughness of our team.”
SENIOR MAVERICK WHITETHORN (145#) placed FIRST and scored 29.5 team points, going 4-0 for the day with 3 pins and a 15-0 Tech Fall.
JUNIOR CAPTAIN JIMMY BENNE (138#) placed FIRST and scored 27.5 team points and went 3-0 for the day with two pins and a 15-0 Tech Fall.
SOPHOMORE CONNOR O’BRIEN (113#) placed FIRST and scored 24 team points, with a 3-0 record for the day with 2 pins and an 8-3 Decision.
JUNIOR CAPTAIN NATHAN ALMAGUER (152#) placed SECOND and scored 22 team points.
JUNIOR SAWYER PEEVY (220#) placed SECOND and scored 18 team points.
SOPHOMORE BRYCE WHITETHORN (120#) placed SECOND and scored 18 team points.
JUNIOR NATHAN CRAWFORD (192#) placed FOURTH and scored 13 team points.
SOPHOMORE ADAM AGUIRRE (120#) placed FOURTH and scored 12 team points.
FRESHMAN MAX PECHMAN (106#) placed FOURTH and scored 8 team points.
Other performances to note were JUNIOR JOHNNY RIVERA who scored 8 team points and SENIOR CAPTAIN MALEAK MCGLASSON-BRUNSON who scored 4 team points to add to the cumulative Reagan Title.
In addition to the 4 Rattler Girls who qualified last Wednesday, these 9 will take the second step in the Road to State at the UIL Region 4-6A Tournament starting at 9am Friday, February 11th with the finals matches on Saturday, February 12th.
