The battle began on Thursday when both teams were strong on the mound. Our Rattlers came out on top with a 2-1 win. Smithson Valley got on the board in the 1st inning, scoring 1 run. But the Rattlers pulled away for good with 2 runs in the 4th inning when an error scored 1 run for the Rattlers and Ashton Beaird drew a walk, scoring 1 run. Coleman took the win for the Rattlers lasting 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run while striking out 5. Coleman, Cole Tabor, and Andrew Ermis all had 1 hit. The Rattlers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Brennan Greer had the most chances in the field with 8.
Friday, our Rattlers snagged a late lead and defeated Smithson Valley 3-2! Again, the pitching was strong on both sides as Billy Baehr started the game for the Rattlers. The bulldog allowed 7 hits and two runs lasting nearly 5 innings, striking out 1 and walking 1. Teagan Peeples was the winning pitcher for the Rattlers, lasting just over 3 innings, allowing 1 hit and 0 runs while walking 1. Smithson Valley got on the board in the first inning, when an error scored 1 run. The Rattlers held the lead until things were tied up in the 5th. Peeples led the Rattlers with 2 hits in 4 at bats. The game remained tied at 2 with the Rattlers batting until the 8th when Peeples singled on a 1-0 count, scoring 1 run. The Rattlers defense was strong and they took home the win!
