Last weekend sophomore Jimmy Benne battled to 4th place at 132# in a 29 man bracket at the USJOC (United States Junior Open Championships). Benne won his first 3 matches with a Major Decision (11-0) then 2 first period pins which put him in the Semifinals. Unfortunately a mental error in the last 14 seconds cost him the match against the eventual Champion. “That error will haunt me for a long time,” Benne said. “I wrestled hard and well and unfortunately made a mistake.” He came back to win his next match with another Major Decision (11-1), but lost the 3rd place match. “Because of this experience I know what I need to work on. I have Tulsa Nationals in a few weeks and when High School Season starts, I will be ready,” Benne said.
