Ramon Grimaldo III has spent years quietly building toward this moment, and now he is set to continue his baseball career at Dallas College Richland, a milestone that reflects the hard work, discipline, and growth that have defined his journey at Reagan High School.
A two-year varsity letterman and left-handed pitcher, Ramon has become a dependable presence on the mound. Known for his composure and steady development, he has balanced athletic performance with academic excellence throughout his high school career. His dedication in the classroom earned him membership in the National Honor Society for two years, and he will graduate with Cum Laude honors—an academic achievement that reflects the same commitment he brings to baseball.
That work ethic extends beyond high school competition. For the past seven years, Grimaldo has competed with the South Texas Sliders, gaining valuable experience and sharpening his skills against high-level competition. In select play, he has showcased his versatility as both a pitcher and a first baseman, further demonstrating his understanding of the game and team-first mentality.
For Ramon, his athletic journey has been all about perseverance, leadership, and heart. As a pitcher, he faced challenges with injuries during his high school career, but he never let that define him. Instead, he stayed committed—to his team, his development, and the game he loves. He showed up every day, putting in the work to recover while also being there for his team. Whether it was supporting teammates in the dugout, helping younger players, or bringing the right energy to practice, he found ways to lead even when he couldn’t take the mound. He proved that being a great teammate isn’t about innings pitched; it’s about attitude and commitment.
Reagan High School head baseball coach Chans Chapman has seen that perseverance up close. “Ramon has also had to overcome some injuries and is now healthy,” Chapman said. “He has a great work ethic and will have an opportunity to succeed at the next level because of it. Looking forward to following him at the next level.”
Behind the scenes, his resilience stood out. The rehab, the patience, and the determination to keep going say everything about who he is. Today, Ramon is signing to continue his baseball career as a pitcher at the next level—and that moment means even more because of everything it took to get here.
Ramon is set to continue his academic and athletic career at Dallas College Richland in Dallas. His decision was rooted in the program’s strong winning culture, quality coaching staff, and a pitching development system he believes will help him reach his full potential.
That belief is shared by Dallas College Richland head baseball coach Jim Leggett. “We are excited to welcome Ramon to our baseball program here at Richland,” Leggett said. “His upside as a player, commitment to academics, and strong character reviews made it an easy decision to bring him into the fold. We look forward to having him here and getting to work in August.”
As he prepares for the next level, Ramon carries with him not only the lessons learned on the field, but also the values of discipline, perseverance, and academic excellence. His signing marks not just the continuation of a baseball career, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter—one that reflects years of dedication and a promising future ahead.
For his family, this signing day represents far more than a signature. This moment reflects a journey defined by resilience and character, and is a testament to a young man who showed up, put in the work, and stayed the course. This isn’t just about baseball. It’s about character, toughness, and showing up no matter what. We’re proud of you, Ramon. Your story is just getting started.
