Senior Football Players “Deck the Halls” with Residents at Independence Hill

December 10, 2025

Residents at Independence Hill Assisted Living were treated to a surprise visit this week when the Rattler football seniors stopped by with some holiday cheer.

The players carried bright red poinsettias into the dining area, handing them out to residents as tokens of holiday cheer and staying to chat with each resident.  They also handed out holiday cards written by members of FCA.

After the flowers were distributed, the team gathered together and sang classic Christmas carols — from “Feliz Navidad” to “Jingle Bells”, with the resident and staff joining in.

“It means the world to us that they took the time to come here,” said Margaret Lopez, a longtime resident. “The flowers are beautiful, but the music and laughter brought back so many memories.”

Head Coach Preston Meyer noted, “We talk a lot about teamwork, but this is what it’s really about — showing up for people, especially during the holidays.”
