Reagan’s Head Girls Track & Field Coach and Assistant Athletic Coordinator, Jennifer McHugh, was named NEISD’s High School Coach of the Year.
NEISD Athletics commented that this award is not just about wins and losses, but also about how the coach positively influences athletes and coaches. When being honored, NEISD shared the following accolades about Coach McHugh, “All good coaches are continuously looking for an edge in all aspects of their lives. They make themselves available for the betterment of the team, not just their team, but all teams associated around them. This years high school recipient of this prestigious award is always willing to do what it takes to make NEISD stand out. Whether it’s posting success on social media, or just simply never saying, “No” when asked to help at events within our arena and beyond.
Trust, respect, and caring is instilled in their athletic program, and it shows at events when you see their athletes encouraging, celebrating, and motivating each other. They feel what each other feels…
This coach considers it a privilege to be able to coach athletes and continuously strives to inspire them to be better than their best.
A never give up attitude is what this person is about, along with an understanding that it’s not about the here and now successes, but about a lifetime of successes.”
NEISD shared praise about Coach McHugh from the Reagan Athletic Coordinator, Coach Lyndon Hamilton, “Coach stays on the cutting edge and continues to raise the bar. Coach has a tremendous work ethic and builds great character through relationships with the athletes. I am glad to have this coach on our team representing our school and NEISD”.
Cliché or not, this individual is a winner by choice. Congratulations to a great Leader, peer role model, and a great example of the following quote, “The best ability is availability.”
Proud of our Coach McHugh on such an outstanding honor! #WeAreReagan #RattlerPride
