November 13, 2016 – Reagan claimed the Region IV-6A Volleyball Championship by defeating Brandeis 25-15, 25-23, 24-26, 25-22 at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) in Edinburg on Saturday. This is the Rattlers 3rd trip to the state tournament and first since 2006. During this exciting match, Setter/Outside Hitter, Camryn Ennis, had 16 kills, 23 assists and 26 digs. Outside Hitter, Elissa Barbosa had 14 kills and 20 digs. Middle Blocker, Izzy De La Rosa, had 13 kills and 3 blocks. Middle Blocker, Kaja Burja, added 10 kills and 4 blocks. On defense, Libero, Lydia Niebla, had a team best of 28 digs.
Prior to this match, Reagan defeated McAllen Memorial in straight sets on Friday in the Region Semi-finals, also at UTRGV, 25-19, 25-20, 25-12.
Terrence Thomas, Sportswriter, Express News reported that the Rattlers who also made it to the state’s final four in 2005, had lost in their previous four appearances in a regional final.
