Varsity Wrestling Girls take Fourth at District Tournament

Your Varsity Girls’ Wrestling Team took Fourth Place out of Eleven teams at the District 14-6A Tournament, scoring a total of 59 Team points – only 8 points behind Third Place LEE.  These remarkable tough athletes did this with only five wrestlers out of ten weight classes and are sending 2 competitors and 2 alternates to next weekend’s Region 4-6A Tournament.

Senior Addison Garcia scored 22 team points and maintained her 2021 9-0 undefeated record by pinning both her opponents to win the DISTRICT CHAMPION TITLE at 102#.  Garcia has punched her way through to the Regional Tournament.

Sophomore Paris Gonzalez (165#) scored 18 team points by pinning her first opponent and winning the Semifinal by Medical Forfeit.  She unfortunately dropped the finals match, earning SECOND PLACE and advancing to the Regional Tournament.

Senior Lauren Beach scored 11 team points at the 119# weight class, going 2-2 with 2 pins for the tournament, earning FOURTH PLACE and a Regional Alternate spot.

Freshman America Rodriguez (110#) scored 8 points for the team pinning her first opponent but then unfortunately dropping her next 2 matches, earning FOURTH PLACE and a Regional Alternate spot.

The Girls’ Regional Tournament is at Blossom Athletic Center’s Jimmy Littleton Gym on Friday April 16 at 4:30pm with the Semi-Finals and Finals being held Saturday April 17 at 4:30pm.
