Varsity Softball Steals One from Johnson, Wins 5-4

March 8, 2024

In exciting Friday night action, the Rattler softball team upset the undefeated Johnson Jaguars with a 5-4 victory.  The Rattlers capitalized on defensive errors by the Jaguars in the top of the first inning to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.  Johnson tied it at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth, but Reagan battled back in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead on another Jaguar error.  The Rattler defense held strong in the final two innings, stranding four Johnson base runners.  Pitcher Ally Reyes (Fr.) earned the win, giving up only four hits on the night in seven full innings of work.

Offensively for the Rattlers, Amari McMath (So.) and Avery Allen (Jr.) each collected multiple hits on the night going 2-3 and 3-4, respectively.  Claire Exstrom (Fr.) also added a hit.

With the win, the Rattlers move to 9-5 on the season, 2-3 in district play.  The team heads back to the dirt over Spring Break week for more district play taking on Churchill Monday afternoon and Roosevelt on Wednesday.
