Wrestling Coaches

Kevin Hernandez was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1992 and raised in a Christian household. He grew up loving the game of football and played throughout grade, middle and high school years. He attended NEISD schools, including Roosevelt High School, where he participated in Football, Track, PALS, National Honor Society, Student Council, and the Unity Club.

After graduating from Roosevelt in 2010, he began his studies in kinesiology and continued playing football at Ripon College in Wisconsin.  After hanging up his cleats, he continued his path in education and received a Bachelors degree from Texas A&M San Antonio in 2018. He then earned his Master’s Degree in Special Education from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2020.

Coach Hernandez joined Reagan in 2018 as a Special Education Teacher, Assistant Football Coach, Assistant Wrestling Coach, and PALS Sponsor.  Through his work, he daily impacted the lives of his students and athletes. He genuinely cared for others. A fellow coach commented, that he had a way of finding the good in people and was quick to acknowledge their accomplishments. Another colleague described him as a difference maker.

He was a long time member of Extreme Youth Leadership and volunteered for several local organizations including TEDxSA, Culinaria, United Way, and 2Ten Development

He was big in stature and big in life. He enjoyed what God called him here to do and it really showed, touching many lives in the  process. Like one of his former coaches said, the only thing bigger than Kevin is his heart.

Kevin’s family and friends were especially important to him just as his students, athletes and coworkers throughout his career. He always took care of their needs before his own. His love, care, and generosity  towards others truly defined his life.

He is survived by his parents Cesar and Edilia; brothers, Henry, Edder  and Jimmy; sisters, Mariela and Kaily Hernandez.

May he rest in eternal peace.

Coach Paul Miller has been coaching and teaching for 18 years. He has spent the past 4 years at Reagan teaching World History and Economics and being an assistant coach for Football and head coach for Wrestling. Previously, he taught and coached in NEISD at Wood Middle School and Madison High School.

Coach Miller graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science, and a minor in History and Education.

Prior to college, he attended Clark High School in San Antonio, where he played Football, Baseball, and ran Track.

He is married to Amber and has 3 children, Parker, Gage, and Tylor.
