Senior Ethan Hamlin Commits to Wrestle at Dickinson State University

April 15, 2026

Senior Ethan Hamlin has committed to continue his wrestling and academic career at Dickinson State University in North Dakota. Ethan started wrestling his freshman year at Reagan. His journey has been inspired by his Club and High School Coaches who he says put so much time and effort coaching him up and making him better. Ethan looks up to collegiate wrestler Cayden Henschel (UW-Parkside) for his positive attitude, his love of wrestling, and how Henschel is always pushing himself to improve.

Ethan finished his senior year District 15-A Champion, Region 4-6A Champion, and 6th place at Texas UIL 6A State. He has a 4-year Reagan record of 76-21 (57 pins). His favorite Reagan wrestling memory was the 2026 Region semifinals. “It was the most tired I have ever been wrestling,” he admitted, adding how redemptive it was: “I beat an opponent who pinned me the year before and ended my season.”

Ethan will be wrestling for Head Coach Justin Schlecht who just finished his 10th season leading the Blue Hawks and has coached many to the NAIA National Tournament and developed several All-Americans. “We are excited for Ethan and what he can bring to DSU as both a student and an athlete – we believe that he has some great growth for developing into a very competitive and succesfull college wrestler,” Coach Schlect said. “Ethan’s work ethic and passion for the sport is what is exciting for us.”

Ethan says he chose DSU for the academics and wrestling program. “They have a great fire-science program, and I am excited to continue to get better at wrestling,” he said. He also added that “the campus felt like home the minute I got there.”
