Ryland Rangel Commits To Play Baseball At Trinity University

Ryland Rangel signed his National Letter of Intent today to play baseball at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. Trinity University is an NCAA Division III university in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference but will move to the Southern Athletic Conference by Fall 2025. Ryland is excited to be viewed as a two-way player for TU, pitching, batting, and/or playing infield.

Ryland is a 3-year Varsity letterman in baseball and has played pitcher and infield for the Rattlers. Ryland is recovering from Tommy John surgery this year which has not allowed him to pitch, but he was able to return to batting on March 22. After being sidelined for 8 months, he recorded 2 hits and 2 RBIs in his first game back in the lineup. Ryland’s current BA is .480 with an OBP of .552 and SLG of .600. He has 27 Varsity career hits with 7 doubles. He has 29 career RBIs and 14 Runs. Ryland was recognized as 1st Team All-District Pitcher 2022-2023. He has pitched in 23 Varsity games and started 12 times. He has faced 292 batters as a Varsity pitcher and has 55 career strikeouts. Ryland had the honor of starting on the hill for Reagan in both rounds of the playoffs last year. Defensively, Ryland has 53 Varsity career PO, and a FPCT of .955.

Ryland played select ball with the Alamo City Rebels for 4 years and the Texas Angels for 2 summers.

When asked about his thoughts on his commitment to TU, Ryland said, “I am absolutely blessed to have the opportunity to play baseball at Trinity. I couldn’t be happier about playing baseball at the college level, and it is definitely a dream come true.” Coach Chapman had this to say about Ryland,” Ryland was a big part of our team last year, pitching and hitting. He has worked himself to be able to come back to still hit for us, and from the first time we put him back in the lineup, he immediately made us better as a team.”

Ryland was recognized as Academic All-District 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. He will graduate Summa Cum Laude.
