Caden Roy signed his letter of intent yesterday to play baseball for McMurry University, an NCAA Division III university in the SCAC (Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference), in Abilene, TX. Caden was a two-position starter last year for the Rattlers at third base and catcher. He is a 3-year Varsity Letterman in baseball and played 3 years with his select team, the Texas Angels. Caden was recognized as 2022-23 Academic All-District.
One of Caden’s most memorable moments as a Rattler came when he entered the game against Eagle Pass in the 2022 Regional Quarter-Finals at catcher. The Rattlers starting All-District catcher was removed from the game on a judgment call, and Caden stepped up to the challenge as a sophomore. He threw 2 baserunners out at 2nd base and ultimately helped the Rattlers win the game thus advancing them to the Regional Semi-Finals. Rattlers Baseball continued to advance to the State Championship game. Caden has also been a big contributor at the plate with a Reagan career BA of .310, including 62 Hits, 54 RBIs, 25 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 HR in his 200 plate appearances.
When asked to comment on his commitment to McMurry University, Caden said,” The great sport of baseball, which I have played since I was 5 years old, is allowing me to continue to play at the next level and pursue my college education. I look forward to competing at the next level and developing my future relationships with the coaches and players at McMurry”.
Reagan’s Head Baseball Coach, Coach Chapman, had this to say about Caden. “He’s a great teammate, and he works really hard in the classroom. I’m proud of him and am looking forward to following him”.
Congratulations, Caden! We wish you the best of luck in baseball and in pursuing your education at McMurry University. Follow McMurry Baseball on IG @mcmwarhawks and X @McMurryBaseball.
