August 31, 2017 – Reagan Tennis downed Madison High School to open district play 11-2. The Rattlers got off to quick 3-0 lead in doubles with Bailey Godwin and Kyndall Quiroz winning at #1 girls doubles 6-0, 6-0 over Lauren De Leon and Christina Duarte. Next off the court was #3 girls doubles Maansi Shah and Jessica Hamdan winning 6-0, 6-0 and then #2 girls doubles Bella Ortega and Apeksha Peeris won 6-1, 6-0.
Boys doubles was in a fight with Eber Rodriguez and Diego Hayen falling to Madison’s Graidyn Bowe and Shawn Alonzo 6-3, 6-4. In the best match of the day, at #2 doubles Matthew Fein and Felipe Morales won 7-5, 6-3 in a 2 hour battle. Brent Freeman and Andre Hamdan won 7-5, 6-1 and the mixed doubles team of Orren Shachaf and Jeffrey Xia won 6-1, 6-1 to give Reagan a 6-1 lead heading into singles play.
In singles, Kyndall Quiroz won at #1 girls singles 6-1, 6-0 and Bailey Godwin won at #2 singles 6-0, 6-0. With Reagan up 8-1, Graidyn Bowe from Madison defeated Eber Rodriguez 6-4, 6-2 cutting the lead to 8-2 but Orren Shachaf and Jessica Hamdan closed out their matches with a 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 win to seal the victory at 10 wins for Reagan High School.
