Today senior Ella Gransbery signed her national letter of intent to wrestle for Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado. Ella is a four-year Reagan Wrestler letterman and two-year Captain.
Her senior season Ella turned in a record of 37-9 with an astonishing 29 pins. During her tenure at Reagan, she racked up an overall record of 77-54 and is a one-time State Qualifier.
In addition to Reagan Wrestling, Ella wrestles for NB Elite Wrestling Club. She recently traveled to Omaha, NE to compete in USA Wrestling Women’s Folkstyle Nationals; and this week she will travel to Columbia, MO for the Women’s Wrestling Championship Duals.
Colorado Mesa Head Coach Travis Mercado has coached the program since its inaugural season in 2018. He has led the squad to 4 consecutive top five finishes at the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships. Coming off a fantastic 2023 14-2 season, here is what Coach Travis Mercado has to say about Ella, “I’m excited to have Ella joining the Maverick wrestling program next year. It is apparent that she is a competitor and that she wants to learn and compete at a high level. We want competitors in our program and we want athletes that want to learn and improve and not be afraid to lose in the process.” His expectations are high, “In the short term I hope to see Ella be a sponge and get as many competitions in as possible. Long term I want her to embrace the love she has for wrestling. We vocalize daily that results are part of us becoming one with our individual performances; and putting in our best effort is the true outcome we are looking for.”
