Reagan Water Polo Teams Push Forward in District Play

The Reagan High School boys and girls water polo teams have officially entered district play, facing worthy opponents Johnson and Churchill as the season moves into a fast-paced stretch of competition. With games coming quickly over the next two weeks, both teams are focused on making adjustments and building momentum.

The girls are 6-10 overall and continue to gain experience as district play moves forward. Allie Callister leads with 45 goals and 16 assists, followed by Hattie Bailey with 19 goals and 12 assists and Victoria Trevino De La Pena with 16 goals and 14 assists. Caitlin Chmiola has 13 steals, while goalkeepers Veronica Viramontes Perez and Aria Flores have recorded 48 and 33 saves, respectively.

The boys carry an 8-8 overall record into the next stretch. Alexander Hibberd leads the team with 50 goals, while Kai Tse has 47 goals and 21 assists. Ben Theesfeld has added 31 assists and 17 steals, and Connor Mayo has 28 assists and 8 steals. In goal, Teddy Caskey has made 101 saves, anchoring the Rattlers’ defense.

Head Coach Jared Kaminski emphasized the importance of staying together and continuing to improve: “Great job by everyone…losses are tough, but I am proud of the way we handle them as a team and how we improve every week.”

As the season enters its fast and furious stretch, both teams will continue to focus on taking what they learn from each contest and carrying it into the next one.

Next up: The Rattlers take on Alamo Heights on Friday, Sept. 18, at Alamo Heights. The girls play at 5 p.m., followed by the boys at 6:15 p.m.
