Reagan Varsity Tennis Brings Home Two State Bronze Finishes!

May 8, 2026

What an incredible couple of days of tennis for Reagan Varsity Tennis!

The three lines that advanced to the UIL 6A State Tennis Tournament made our entire team proud with their determination, teamwork, and outstanding performances.

Mixed Doubles – Iris and Evan Wang

The sibling duo, Iris and Evan Wang, began their state tournament journey with an impressive first-round victory over The Woodlands High School. They battled through an intense match and came out on top in a thrilling super tiebreak.

Later that day, they returned to the court for the quarterfinals and fought hard, competing for every point and leaving it all on the court. Although their tournament run ended there, they demonstrated tremendous skill, resilience, and heart. Their performance was an incredible accomplishment and sets the stage for even greater success next season.

Boys Doubles – Jairo Kirk and Ryan Totorica

Jairo Kirk and Ryan Totorica opened their tournament with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory over Bridgeland High School, showcasing exceptional teamwork and confidence.

In the next round, they faced a tough opponent and battled their way to another exciting super tiebreak win, earning a spot in the state semifinals. Reaching the Final Four in Texas 6A tennis is an extraordinary achievement.

Boys Doubles – Pablo Alvarez and Rodrigo Montano

Pablo Alvarez and Rodrigo Montano received a first-round bye and advanced directly to the second round. In their opening match, they delivered a clutch performance, winning a hard-fought super tiebreak to secure their place in the semifinals.

🏆 State Semifinals

Both Reagan boys doubles teams competed in the state semifinals today. They played with heart, intensity, and determination against some of the best competition in Texas. While neither team advanced to the finals, both teams earned an outstanding 3rd-place finish at the UIL 6A State Tournament—an accomplishment that reflects the hard work and dedication of these athletes.

This was a remarkable tournament and an unforgettable experience for our program. Our team now knows what it feels like to compete at the highest level, and we will return next season more motivated and prepared than ever.

A Bittersweet Farewell

Today was also bittersweet as we said goodbye to two exceptional senior leaders who played their final matches as Reagan Varsity Tennis players.

Thank you, Evan Wang and Jairo Kirk.

Jairo will continue his tennis career at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and we could not be prouder.

To our seniors: thank you for your leadership, dedication, and the example you set for your teammates. You will be deeply missed, and we wish you all the best in this exciting next chapter.

Congratulations, Rattlers!

Strike ’Em!
