Reagan Tops Boerne Champion

Rattlers Rally Late to Top Boerne Champion, 5-3

The Reagan Rattlers secured a hard-fought 5-3 victory over Boerne Champion on Wednesday, breaking a late-game tie in the bottom of the sixth.

With the score knotted at three, Darden Wetherell delivered a clutch single to drive in two runs, sealing the win for Reagan.

Boerne Champion struck first in the second inning when Sawyer Smith doubled to bring in two runs. An error in the third extended their lead to 3-0.

The Rattlers responded in the bottom half of the third, tying the game after a Karsten Holman double and an RBI single from Isaiah Robledo.

Kaleb Rogers earned the complete-game win, allowing just three runs (two earned) on six hits over seven innings. Rogers struck out eight and walked only one. He also threw an immaculate inning in the sixth, striking out the side on just nine pitches.

Wetherell and Robledo led the Rattlers’ offense with two RBIs each, while Rogers and Robledo both tallied two hits. In total, the Rattlers collected 10 hits.

Smith and Garland Whitehead paced the Boerne Champion lineup, each recording two hits while batting back-to-back. Smith finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Boerne Champion starter AJ Grizzatti went five innings, striking out seven while allowing three runs on six hits. Reliever Aidan Smith took the loss, giving up two runs on four hits in one inning of work.

With the win, the Rattlers continue to build momentum as they look ahead to their next game.
