May 18, 2018 – The Reagan doubles team of Bailey Godwin and Kyndall Quiroz lost a tight battle against the top seed from Fort Worth in the quarter-finals at State 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. The first set, Shauna Galvin and Emily Buell from Forth Worth Paschal started fast using steady play with very few unforced errors to take the set 6-2. In the second set Bailey and Kyndall went to a more aggressive approach attacking the net together and won 6 out of 7 games winning the set 6-2. In the deciding set Shauna and Emily got the early break and jumped to a 5-2 lead. Bailey and Kyndall fought back winning the next game and had a shot to make the score 4-5 but the team from Forth Worth came back in that game to win the match on their 3rd match point. The match lasted two and a half hours in 97º heat leaving both teams exhausted. The lost ended the season for the Reagan sophomore duo who will look to get back to State next year.
