October 17, 2017 – Reagan varsity tennis downed Vista Ridge High School at Bi-Districts 10-1. It was a great start to playoffs for coach David Daniel. After securing his 5th straight District Championship, he has his players focused on working their way through playoffs.
The match started with doubles and mixed doubles with Reagan winning 6 out of the 7 matches. First off the court was JP Gonzalez and Felipe Morales who won their match at #2 boys doubles 6-0, 6-0. Bailey Godwin and Kyndall Quiroz came off the courts first for the girls at #1 doubles with a 6-2, 6-0 win. The tightest match of the day was at mixed doubles with Jeffrey Xia and Apeksha Peeris who lost a nail-biter to Amrit Fonseka and Emily Shay 6-2, 2-6, 12-10. With a 6-1 lead heading into singles, Reagan only needed 4 wins out of 12 singles matches to advance to Area. At #1 boys singles, Eber Rodriguez was in a battle with Jacob Tolbert and lost the first set 4-6 before the playoff match was ended. Senior Diego Hayen, Sophomore Jeffrey Xia, Junior Orren Shachaf and Junior Ruchi Sehgal all won their singles matches in under an hour to secure the win for Reagan High School.
Reagan will play O’Connor High School in the 2nd round of playoffs at Area. The match will be played at Northside Tennis Center in Helotes, TX Thursday, October 19 at 1pm. Please come and cheer on your Reagan Rattlers!!!
