9/15/17 – Reagan high school’s tennis team defeated Clark high school in a tight battle Friday evening 14-3. 10 matches went the distance going to the deciding 3rd set tie-breaker with Reagan winning 8 of those. Emotions were high in #1 girls doubles with Bailey Godwin and Kyndall Quiroz winning a 2 hour battle 6-7, 6-1, 10-4. Clark took the #2 girls doubles win 6-2, 6-4 but Reagan’s Jessica Hamdan and Nishika Peeris took #3 doubles 6-4, 6-1.
In boys doubles action, Clark took #1 doubles 7-6, 0-6, 10-8. Reagan then took #2 and #3 boys doubles in 3 sets and lead 4-2. The mixed doubles team of Bella Ortega and Jeffrey Xia won 6-2, 3-6, 10-2 to give Reagan a 5-2 lead heading into singles.
Reagan turned up the heat in singles winning 9 out of 10 singles matches to close out the match. First off the court was girls #2 singles player, Bailey Godwin, who won her match 6-3, 6-0 followed by girls #5 Jessica Hamdan won 6-3, 6-0.
Reagan will play in the NEISD Team Invitational Friday and Saturday at Blossom Tennis Center.
