The Reagan Varsity Softball team took to the diamond Thursday afternoon for the start of a 3-day NEISD Tournament. They faced a tough South San team in the first game. Unfortunately, South San took an early lead in the first inning and never looked back, defeating the Rattlers 9-3. Freshman pitcher Presley Noriega suffered the loss, giving up 11 hits and striking out three. Leila Reyes led the offense with two hits.
In game two, the Rattlers lost a tough one to Harlandale on a tie-breaker rule as time expired. Each team scored 10 runs, but Harlandale advanced more runners to third base to claim the official win. Noriega gave up 14 hits with one strikeout. Freshman centerfielder A’mari McMath led Reagan with three hits, including an in-the-park home run. Juniors Julia Magi and Shreya Fifadara also contributed three and two hits apiece.
Reagan will head back to the NEISD complex today for a 3:30 game time against Highlands. Good luck, ladies! Strike ‘em!
