Reagan Rattlers’ bats got going in the bottom of the 5th inning as the Reagan pitchers held the Bulldogs to 4 runs. Starting pitcher, Zach Hopkins, earned the win for the Rattlers. With the score tied at 2, bases loaded, and 1 out for the Bulldogs in the top of the 4th, Hopkins held his composure, giving up only 1 run in the inning. Hopkins pitched 4 innings, striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 7 hits and 3 runs. Reliever, Cody Pictrowski entered at pitcher for the Rattlers in the top of the 5th. Pictrowski went 3 up-3 down in the 5th and 6th innings, striking out 2. He struck out 1, walked 1, and allowed 1 run in the 7th inning. With 1 out and 2 on base in the top of the 7th, Nolan Hussey, took the mound to close the game. Hussey only threw 8 pitches, causing the Bulldogs to ground out into a fielder’s choice to Karsten Holman and pop out to Caleb Crider who had an amazing catch, on the run, at 2nd base with his back turned to end the game.
The 5th inning was huge for the Rattlers’ offense. Caden Crofts started the inning with a single to left field. Holman, Isaiah Robledo, and Matthew Butler also had hits in the inning with Robledo scoring 2 RBIs, Butler 1 RBI, and Jeter Battles 1 RBI. Elias Leon and Caden Roy also tallied hits in the game. Crofts and Leon tallied 1 RBI each as well.
