Isaiah Robledo had a banner night against the Cougars, going 4 for 4 at the plate with singles in 4 different innings and collecting 2 stolen bases. Robledo started it off in the 1st inning with a line drive single to LF followed by another single to LF by Caden Crofts. Elias Leon recorded the first RBI when he pulled a monster hit to RF for a double that scored Robledo. The Rattlers had a dry spell until the 5th inning but Robledo came through with a lead-off single to CF. Reagan went on to score 4 more runs in the inning with RBIs from Ryland Rangel, Michael Yzaguirre, and Caleb Crider who scored 2 runs off a killer double to CF. Robledo’s hot bat continued in the 6th with another lead-off hard ground ball to LF. Robledo showed off his wheels when he scored from 1st base off an incredible line drive double to RF by Leon, bringing the score to 6-2. Robledo recorded his RBI in the top of the 7th with a line drive single to LF, scoring Jeter Battles, then Crofts knocked in Robledo with a line drive to CF. Other Rattler hits in the game were recorded for Javi Cuevas and Battles.
Darden Wetherell walked away with the win for Reagan, pitching a complete game and facing 26 batters in 7 innings. Wetherell wasted no time on the mound, only throwing 71 pitches in the game. He struck out 3, walked only 1, and gave up 2 hits and 2 runs, both earned. Wetherell sat the Cougars down one after another in the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th innings deflating the Cougars’ stands and bench. Yzaguirre denied the Cougars with an amazing ESPN diving catch in center field for the final out of the game.
