REAGAN RATTLERS BATTLE JOHNSON IN AN EXCITING NIGHT OF TENNIS

September 18, 2026

The Reagan Rattlers had a battle to win on Thursday, September 17th, as they took on Johnson High School. From the very first ball, the team displayed incredible skill, determination, and energy across every court. While some lines faced especially challenging battles, the sidelines were treated to some beautiful tennis and plenty of moments to cheer about.

The Line 1 boys doubles team of Nathan Washington and Pablo Alvarez put on a full-on showcase of doubles tennis. The boys played with confidence and control, finishing their match with an impressive 6-3, 6-3 victory. Great job, boys!

On Line 3 boys doubles, Jerry He and Ramon Montano came out strong, taking the first set comfortably, 6-1. Their opponents pushed back in the second set, but Jerry and Ramon stayed focused and worked through the pressure to finish with a 7-5 second-set victory, securing another great win for Reagan.

The girls continued to deliver impressive performances.

Line 2 girls doubles, Estefania Scanlon and Dhanvi Vagal, took the first set 6-4. They came back even stronger in the second, using excellent communication, smart strategy, and teamwork to close out the match with a convincing 6-1 second-set win. Great job, ladies!

Line 3 girls doubles, Dana Lee and Heidi Wilkinson, added another outstanding victory to the board. The girls played a strong and steady match, finishing with a 6-2, 6-4 win. Amazing job, ladies!

That left us with the hard-fought Line 2 matches on both the girls’ and boys’ sides.

For the girls, Iris Wang and Naya Chreitah faced a tough opponent and an incredibly competitive first set that went all the way to a tiebreaker. The girls battled through and came away with the first set. Unfortunately, they were unable to secure the second set, sending the match into a super tiebreaker.

Iris and Naya put everything they had back onto the court, fighting point after point and refusing to give up. In the end, they came up just two points short of the win. Although the result wasn’t what they wanted, their fight, determination, and commitment were something to be proud of. What a battle, ladies!

On the boys’ side, Finn Thanairongroj and David Lopez were in another incredible battle. The boys started hot, taking the first set 6-3, but their opponents fought back in the second set, eventually taking it in a tiebreaker.

With everything on the line, Finn and David had to reset, refocus, and bring their best tennis to the super tiebreaker. And what a super tiebreaker it was!

Point after point, the boys showed their determination and eagerness to win. Their teamwork and composure under pressure paid off as the doubles partners finished the battle with a hard-earned victory for Reagan. What a proud moment. Great job, boys!

The mixed doubles team of Hallie Crofts and Kayarmin Shahriari brought great energy to the court finishing with a final score of 6-2,6-3 and secured a strong 6-1 victory over Johnson before the singles players took over the courts.

Hallie then had to turn around shortly after her mixed doubles victory and step back onto the court for singles. Heidi Wilkinson and Camila Torres also faced the challenge of competing in singles after their doubles matches, showing just how much heart and endurance these players bring to every team match.

While the girls were still battling it out, the Reagan boys singles players came out firing and quickly put more points on the board.

Pablo Alvarez, playing on Court 1, delivered one of his strongest performances of the night. He chased down every ball, hit incredible shots, and served some impressive aces on his way to a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Right beside him on Court 2, Nathan Washington continued the momentum. With every powerful serve, the cheers from the Reagan sidelines grew louder and louder. Nathan finished his match with a fantastic 6-2, 6-2 win.

Then came Finn Thanairongroj on Court 3. Coming straight off his intense doubles battle, Finn showed that he still had plenty of energy left. He came out hot, stayed focused, and continued his mission to help the Rattlers secure the sweep, finishing singles with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory.

FINAL SCORE 10-1
