Reagan Aquatics Men Capture Silver At Region VII-6A Champs, 1 Reagan Record, 2 Pool Records

Reagan Men’s swimming and diving teams captured Silver at the UIL Region VII-6A Championships today.  The Rattlers placed second with 274 points to Brandeis’ 345 points.

Reagan Junior Marcel Mateos-Salles was awarded Region Male “Diver of the Meet”.  Luke Prior set a new Reagan school record in the 50 Yard Freestyle, breaking a 13 year record held by by Paul Leonhardt.  The Aquatics team set 2 Walker Pool records:  Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay – Nikolai Nelson, Kevin Cai, Len Ray, Luke Prior and Men’s 200 Yard Individual Medley – Kevin Cai.

The Reagan Aquatics team produced 3 individual and 1 relay Region Champions, and will be sending 4 swimmers and 1 diver on to the Class 6A State swimming and diving championships on Friday, February 26th at the Bill Walker Pool.

Reagan’s Top-8 Finalists today are:

200 Yard Medley Relay: Nikolai Nelson, Kevin Cai, Len Ray, Luke Prior – 1st (Walker Pool record)
200 Yard Freestyle: Noah Ott – 5th; Rickey Rodriguez – 7th
200 Yard Individual Medley: Kevin Cai – 1st (Walker Pool record)
50 Yard Freestyle: Luke Prior – 2nd (Reagan record)
Diving: Marcel Mateos Salles – 1st (Male Diver of Meet)
100 Yard Butterfly: Len Ray – 2nd
100 Yard Freestyle: Luke Prior – 2nd
500 Yard Freestyle: Nikolai Nelson – 4th
200 Yard Freestyle Relay: Kevin Cai, Len Ray, Ricky Rodriguez, Luke Prior – 2nd
100 Yard Backstroke: Nikolai Nelson – 6th
100 Yard Breaststroke: Kevin Cai – 1st
400 Yard Freestyle Relay: Nikolai Nelson, Noah Ott, Owen Barrett, Rickey Rodriguez – 5th
