The Rattlers knew they had work to do on Friday as they set their sights on the top spot in District 28 6A…and they got the job done!!
Reagan and Brandeis both came into the match up with 7-0 records in district.
The teams matched up pretty evenly for most of the first quarter with Reagan taking a slight advantage to close it out ahead 19-15. The Rattlers had a strong second quarter, hitting a nice scoring streak to increase the deficit to 9 (36-27) as they headed into the locker room for the half.
Reagan came back on to the court from the halftime break with the fire still lit. They refused to give up the lead despite a little bit of a burst from the Broncos in the third quarter. The fourth quarter opened with the Rattlers ahead 57-48. Reagan dug in for another surge in the fourth quarter to hold the Broncos at bay. The buzzer sounded with a final score of 74-67.
Top scorers for Reagan were Senior Luke Price with 26 points and Junior Aidan Richard with 25 points.
Up next, the Rattlers will face off against Clark on Wednesday (Jan. 18) to start the second round of district play. Tipoff is at 6:30 pm at Blossom. Come out and help us cheer them on!
