Rattlers Top Buda Johnson

Saturday, April 12th – The bottom of the lineup helped the Rattlers capture a 4-2 victory over Buda Johnson on Saturday at Buda Johnson High School. Kaleb Rogers, Caine Chapman, and Ricky Armstrong combined for four of the team’s eight hits in the victory. They scored one run and drove in one.

The Rattlers were the first to get on the board in the fourth when Armstrong hit a solo home run to left field.

Buda Johnson singled down the right field line to tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth.

The Rattlers took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Karsten Holman singled to center field, Bodie Weyman singled to left field, and Tony Gilbreath walked, each scoring one run.

Zach Hopkins stepped on the hill first for the Rattlers. The hurler gave up five hits and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking none. Evrick Paulino earned the win for the Rattlers. He gave up zero hits and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking two.

Chapman and Armstrong were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits. Gilbreath, Holman, and Armstrong each drove in one run. Isaiah Robledo led the Rattlers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Robledo stole two bases. The Rattlers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Chapman made the most plays with seven.
