The Rattler runners took to the course Saturday morning for the first meet of the season. Pieper High School hosted the amazing rubber chicken relay. Each runner carried the squeaky chicken through the 1.5-mile course and handed it off to their teammate. Reagan paired off runners and each ran the course two times making the race a total of 6 miles. Spectators enjoyed cheering them on and hearing the squeak in return for cheers.
Senior and Varsity athlete, Katlin Foster had this to say ” First race of the season was a bittersweet experience. I’m so excited to get this season started; but sad for it to be my first last XC race of my high school career. I’m so proud of every single one of my teammates. They pushed themselves when it got hard and stayed positive. I’m truly blessed to be on a team like Reagan XC and to have an amazing coach always by my side. This last XC season here with Reagan is going to be the best one yet! I’m so excited for what’s to come!
Freshman JV runner, Cason Storey, had this say about running his first high school meet, ” No matter how difficult it is, the worst thing you could do is walk.” Wise words from this freshman athlete! Rattler Nation looks forward to watching this athlete’s running career.
Head coach, Rachel Freeman, said ” It was a great day to be a Rattler! We ran well, competed hard, and had fun as a team. It was so great to compete against all the teams out there today.”
The Rattler runners head to Floresville this coming Saturday, August 19th, to compete in the Floresville Meet held at the middle school.
