The battle for the title of District Champion is officially underway! The Varsity Boys basketball team faced off against Clark at Northside Gym last night in their first district game of the season.
The Rattlers got off to a strong start after the tip off, establishing an early 7-0 lead. As the teams settled into their rhythm, Reagan continued to play hard, finishing the 1st quarter up 18-14. They maintained their lead through the 2nd quarter, heading into the locker room at halftime ahead 31-26.
Clark found some fire in the third quarter, holding the Rattlers to 7 points while scoring 14. Reagan briefly relinquished the lead, starting the 4th quarter down by 2 (38-40). The Cougars’ lead was short-lived as the Rattlers rallied to score 24 points to Clark’s 12 in the last quarter to bring home the win with a final score of 62-52.
High scorers for the Rattlers were Junior Aidan Richard and Senior Luke Price who contributed 23 and 21 points, respectively.
The team is set to play Cedar Park in the Rattler Den on Friday at 2:30 pm for the first game of the Diamondbacker Invitational Tournament. Come out and cheer them on!
