Rattler Softball Goes 1-1 in Spring Break Play

March 13, 2024

After knocking off crosstown rivals in an upset win last Friday night, the Rattler Softball team fell flat in the first of two games scheduled during Spring Break week, falling to Churchill 5-15 on Monday afternoon.  The Rattlers started off strong scoring two quick runs in the first inning.  Churchill answered in the bottom of the inning and the lead went back and forth between the two teams.  Unfortunately, the Rattlers could not overcome shoddy defensive play, allowing six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to give Churchill a commanding 11-5 lead.  That was all the Chargers would need to put the game away.   Offensively for the Rattlers, Avery Allen (Jr.) led the team going 2 for 3 at the plate.  Macie Thiel (Jr.) collected a hit and two RBI.

The Rattlers rebounded in Wednesday’s afternoon game routing Roosevelt 15-0 in three innings.  A’mari McMath (So.) drove in four runs on an inside the park grand slam to lead Reagan past the Rough Riders.  Macie Thiel went 3 for 3 at the plate with a single, double, and triple, collecting three RBI.  Sadie Eckles (So.) roped two doubles and batted in three runs as well.  Claire Extrom (Fr.) also chipped in two hits.  Pitcher Ally Reyes gave up only one hit on the day and struck out six.

Reagan moves to 10-6 on the season, 3-4 in district play.  The team travels to Brandeis for more district action next Tuesday.
