November 19, 2016 – The Rattlers made it to the UIL State Tournament as one of the top 4 volleyball teams in the state of Texas. The Rattlers earned this opportunity with a season of 42 impressive wins and just 4 losses, prior to the State semi-finals.
Friday night at the Culwell Center in Garland, amidst a crowd of Rowdy Rattlers, the team competed against League City Clear Creek. Despite the team’s efforts, Reagan fell in straight sets: 23-25, 14-25, and 21-25.
During the semi-final match, the team was led offensively by Camryn Ennis, who was named to the 6A All-Tournament Team, as selected by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Ennis led with 15 kills, 9 assists and 2 blocks; followed by Izzy DeLaRosa with 7 kills and 2 blocks; Kaja Burja with 5 kills and 2 blocks; and Nika Burja with 3 kills and 2 blocks. Lydia Niebla led the team defensively with 25 serves received and 16 digs, followed by Laryssa Correa with 12 digs, Camryn Ennis with 10 digs, and Faith Horan with 14 serves received and 7 digs; and Monique Azar with 13 serves received and 7 digs. The team ended up playing the majority of the match without standout Elissa Barbosa, a 6 rotation player and leading hitter, due to an injury that occurred during the team’s warm-ups.
