Olaoluapo Adedeji, better known as “Big O” to his teammates and coaches, has signed his National Letter of Intent to play football for NAIA Nelson University, previously known as Southwest Assemblies of God University, in Waxahachie Texas.
Adedeji, joined by his family, signed his NLI at the Reagan signing day February 5th.
Coaches at Nelson first saw Adedeji his junior year on the Reagan campus and knew he had potential to go far in his football career. After he and his father visited the campus, the coaches at Nelson offered a scholarship and he accepted. He was also excited to recall that Pastor John Hagee, also an alumnae of Nelson, and Adedeji’s previous pastor, once prayed for Ola’s football success.
“Big O is an outstanding man on and off the field,” Coach Lyndon Hamilton said. “He has been a pillar within our program for a long time. He handles his business in the classroom and he is quite a load on the field. He is for sure the biggest man on campus and we will miss his presence.”
“We know that the best things are yet to come, and we can’t wait to see what he does in the near future.”
“I remember his freshman year when we basically had to push him onto the field and wow, how far he has come. Keep Striking “Big O”, Coach added.
He’s a triple threat in football (he plays both guard and tackle), academics and the arts and has plans to continue reaching his goals once he arrives at Nelson. He’s been in both theater and choir over his middle school and high school careers, and has plans to continue in the choir at Nelson. He has also been a member of the media team at House of Abundance Church, where his father JD is the founder and Bishop.
We wish Big O much success in his next chapter. Please follow his career on X at @NelsonUFootball.
