Reagan’s class of 2020, Jasmine Montgomery, was honored at Rattler Round Up with a banner recognizing her Gatorade Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year for Texas award. The banner was presented by several of her teammates and Head Track Coach, Jennifer McHugh.
The Gatorade State Player of the Year award was established in 1985 to recognize the nation’s most outstanding high school-athletes for their athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character. This past season, Montgomery took first place in the 100M and 200M dashes with the fastest times in the history of the UIL Texas State Championship. Montgomery also anchored the 400M relay for Reagan, taking second place at the State Meet. CLICK HERE for Gatorade press release. CLICK HERE to read SA Express News story on Jasmine’s award.
Jasmine heads back to Eugene where she will now compete for the dominant University of Oregon Track and Field program. We know she will continue to break records at the next level. We wish her all the best!
