Matthew Velasco signed his letter of commitment to play football at Texas State University, an NCAA Division I program and part of the Sun Belt Conference. While at Texas State, Matthew will study in the medical field.
Velasco is a 2 year Varsity letterman for Reagan Football playing Kicker and Punter. He was recognized as 28-6A First Team All District Offense, 28-6A Special Teams Utility Player of the Year, and as THSCA Academic All State Honorable Mention. He was selected as the Jon Wayne Player of the Game in September 2022. Velasco was also selected to play in the San Antonio Sports All Star Game, a showcase of the area’s top football talent. In his 2021 season, he was honored as 28-6A First Team All District Offense.
In addition to football, Velasco is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). He also spent time in service volunteering at Independence Hill Retirement Village and the San Antonio Food Bank.
