The Reagan Softball team took Tuesday night’s game in dramatic fashion with a 13-10 walk-off victory over the Churchill Chargers. The game was deadlocked at a 10-10 tie going into the final bats of the seventh inning, when catcher Mila Mancias (Jr.) cleaned up with a 3-run bomb over the left center fence! Mancias drove in a team high 5 RBIs, while Avery Allen (Sr.) and Mina Galvan (So.) contributed 2 apiece. Reagan’s offense has boasted back-to-back games of 14 hits, impeccable timing in this heated District 28 playoff race. Allen and Macie Thiel (Sr.) led the attack with three hits each. Poised and cool pitching from Ally Reyes (So.) showed once again why she leads the District in strikeouts and a huge reason why the Lady Rattlers are off to their best start in years with a district record of 4-1 under 3rd year coach Lana Bowers.
Hustle plays once again sparked the Rattlers to include three stolen bases by Ava Guevara (Sr.), Sadie Eckles (Jr.), and Thiel, which forced six errors against a tough Chargers opponent.
The Rattlers head back to the diamond this Friday March 21, at Northside Softball Complex. They will look to add another district victory to their belt vs the pesky Cougars of Clark High School at 5pm.
Strike ’em, Rattlers!
