Lady Rattlers Soccer with Strong Finish in District Play

Lady Rattlers Soccer has notched some big wins in the final weeks of Round 2 of district play.

In their second round match-up against Clark, the Lady Rattlers defeated the Cougars 1-0 after seizing an early lead off a goal by junior Molly Alger, assisted by senior Natania Olsen.

Next up, the Lady Rattlers battled back from a 0-2 deficit against Brandeis to score four second half goals, including two goals and two assists by senior Taylor Jernigan, a goal by junior Brooke Castillo, the go-ahead goal by freshman Mia Olague, and an assist a piece by senior Hannah Cruz and sophomore Ellie Held. The Lady Rattlers beat Brandeis 4-2.

The Lady Rattlers soundly defeated Johnson 3-1 in their second round meeting. The win over the Jags was driven by two first half goals by Brooke Castillo, assists by Taylor Jernigan and junior Jenna Salazar, and a late goal to seal the victory by senior Cami Jordan, who recently returned to play following a prolonged injury recovery.

The Lady Rattlers also defeated Churchill 6-0, with goals by senior Fabiola Ayala-Rivera, Molly Alger (2), Brooke Castillo, Taylor Jernigan, and Ellie Held, and assists by senior Emma O’Brien, Cami Jordan, Fabiola Ayala-Rivera, Brooke Castillo, and Taylor Jernigan (2).

In this final week of district play, the Lady Rattlers face Roosevelt on Friday, March 18 at 5 pm at Blossom-East.
