Lady Rattlers Soccer were back in playoff action Tuesday night and defeated the District 25-6A champs and 2021 6A State Runner-up Austin Vandegrift in dramatic fashion in the second round. The Lady Rattlers are Area champs!
The Lady Rattlers led 1-0 at halftime off of a goal by senior Taylor Jernigan assisted by junior Brooke Castillo.
After halftime, the wind conditions became extreme. With gusting wind in their faces, the Lady Rattlers fought hard, but Vandegrift tied the game midway through the half.
At the end of regulation and two overtime periods, the game was still deadlocked at a goal apiece and went to a penalty shootout that ended with Reagan on top 3-1! The victory was assured when junior goalkeeper Emily Tredemeyer made a whopping three out of four saves, and seniors Emma O’Brien and Hannah Cruz and freshman Bella Hartofelis made their attempts.
Next up, the Lady Rattlers face district rival Johnson in the third round Regional Quarterfinal game on Friday, April 1 at 7 pm at Comalander stadium.
Let’s wear green, pack the stands, get loud, and cheer on the Lady Rattlers to another victory over the Jags Friday night!
Strike ‘em!!!
Let’s do this, ladies!
