Lady Rattlers Kick Off Return to Action with 30-Point Win Over Madison

January 13, 2021

The Lady Rattlers beat Madison in convincing fashion Tuesday night to mark their return from the month-long NEISD hiatus from the court.  With the game never in doubt and a final score of 64-31, the Lady Rattlers move to 10-2/4-0 on the season.

Sophomore Samantha Wagner   and Junior Christeen Iwuala continue their dominant play with double-doubles in the game of 24/13 and 20/11 respectively.  Juniors Kelsie Hawkins and Miranda Noack each added six points, while Hawkins also chalked up five rebounds and Noack added five assists.  Every player in the game contributed to the stat sheet.

In a season already shortened by the UIL rule against tournament play due to COVID-19 concerns, the NEISD shutdown in December has further shortened the Lady Rattlers season.  Instead of playing all district foes twice, the district season will now consist of one game against each District 28-6A team and a one-game-per-day, single-elimination bracket to take place between January 30th and February 5th, consisting of the top eight teams in the district.  This bracket play will determine seeding for the top four teams who will continue into the UIL playoffs in February.

Come support the ladies on Friday at 8:00pm at Blossom as they take on TABC-ranked and unbeaten NISD Clark to continue the battle for District 28-6A.
