Today, Lady Rattlers senior defender/midfielder, Hannah Cruz, signed her official letter of intent to play soccer for Southwestern University. Hannah is a three-year letterman, who earned All-District Honorable Mention honors as a junior. She has been named Academic All-District, is a member of National Honor Society, and will graduate summa cum laude with an impressive 4.0 GPA.
Southwestern University Head Coach, Linda Hamilton says about Hannah: “We are very excited to have Hannah join our team and program. We feel she will help our team continue to improve and we are excited to add such a tough defensive player to our roster. We know she will help us continue to accomplish great things with our program.”
Hannah is joining a highly successful Southwestern women’s soccer program with especially impressive recent results. In 2021, the Pirates were crowned the 2020 Southern Athletic Collegiate Conference champions. Along the way, they accomplished a 15-2-1 record, setting the mark for the program’s highest winning percentage at 0.861, and achieved their first national ranking in program history. In 2019, the Pirates won their first Southern Athletic Collegiate Conference tournament championship trophy, earned a bid to the NCAA tournament, notched a program-best 16 wins, and bested a 12-year-old conference-play win streak with a 7-0 start to the season.
