Lady Rattler Basketball Captain Kelsie Hawkins signs LOI to play for Southern Arkansas

The Lady Rattlers are thrilled to announce the signing of Kelsie Hawkins to play basketball for the University of Southern Arkansas in 2022-2023.

Kelsie, a four-year letterman and two-year captain, is ranked 39th in the State of Texas for the 2022 class by Girls Prep Report and has been chosen for the S3ABC All-Star Game being played at OLLU on April 24th at 2:00pm.  She also maintains a 3.9 GPA.

Accolades for Kelsie through her high school career include:

  • 2018-2019 (Rio Rancho High School in Rio Rancho, New Mexico): 1st Team All-District, Academic All-District
  • 2019-2020: All-District Honorable Mention, Academic All-District
  • 2020-2021: 2nd Team All-District, Academic All-District, Member of Regional Finalist Playoff Team
  • 2021-2022: Unanimous 1st Team All-District, Academic All-District, TABC Academic All-State, TGCA Academic All-State

Kelsie is also a Varsity Track Athlete, participating in high jump.  She received 7th place honors at the 28-6A District meet Tuesday.

Kelsie was the second-leading scorer on the Lady Rattlers team this season, averaging 10.5 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, and 3.6 assists per game.  She is the Program leader in steals with 274 and the Program record-holder for Assists in a Game with 11.

Coach Zac Tabor summed it up best: “Kelsie has had a great career for the Reagan Lady Rattler Basketball program.  She is a committed young lady who is focused on bettering herself every day.  She was a leader for us on and off the court and a big part of the success of the program has had in her tenure.  She has laid the groundwork for the future of our program.  Southern Arkansas is getting a great student athlete who is willing to put in the work to help make their program successful.  We are so proud of Kelsie and know she has a bright future ahead.”

SAUW is located in Magnolia, Arkansas and is a member of the Great American Conference.
