Today, Kanalu Wong signed his National Letter of Intent for Baylor University where he will join the Bear’s Cross Country and Track team. Baylor is a top ranked NCAA Division I, Big 12 Conference program. Wong is a 4-year Varsity Cross Country and Track letterman at Reagan who has competed and excelled in his sport. His personal records and accolades are:

- 1600M PR- 4:22
- 3200M PR- 9:39
- 5000M PR- 15:28
- All-District Cross Country
- All-Region Cross Country
- All-District Track
- Texas Relay Silver Medalist
- Academic Athlete All-District First Team (XC)
- Academic Athlete All-State Second Team (XC)
- Academic Athlete All-District First Team (Track)
When asked how many miles he has run from the beginning of Cross Country to the end of Track season, he humbly responded “1,600 miles.” His teammates jokingly describe his high mileage as the “dark side.” Wong continually encourages others to join the “dark side of high mileage.”
Wong’s impact on this team is extraordinary. Head Cross Country Coach, Rachel Freeman, commented “Kanalu set big goals this year and went after them every day. His hard work and dedication helped him achieve his goals and encouraged and inspired his teammates to be their best. His future is bright, and we look forward to seeing all his future achievements.”
