Jeter Battles Commits To Play Baseball At New Mexico Junior College

April 24, 2024

Jeter Battles signed his National Letter of Intent today to play baseball at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM. NMJC is a Division I junior college and is a part of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference in NJCAA Region 5.

Jeter is a 3-year Varsity letterman in baseball and football. He has played infield and outfield for the Rattlers and is currently the Rattler shortstop. Jeter always finds a way to make something good happen on the field. He has a current BA of .414 and had a BA of .280 last year with limited action at the plate. Jeter had the opportunity to play 3rd base when the Rattlers went to the State Championship game in 2022.

Jeter played select ball for 2 years with Twelve and 1 summer with the South Texas Sliders.

When asked to comment on his commitment to NMJC, Jeter said, “Playing college ball is something I have always seen myself doing. It is definitely surreal and a blessing. It’s a chapter and step into the direction I want to go….a professional baseball player.” Jeter also said that his goal is to be All-State this year and get the Rattlers their first State title. Reagan Head Baseball Coach, Coach Chapman, had this to say about Jeter, “Jeter is a team leader and competitor. He is a big part of what we are doing this year, and we expect him to keep leading us for the next 6-7 weeks.”

We wish Jeter the best in reaching his goals and pursuing baseball at New Mexico Junior College! Follow NMJC baseball on X @NMJC_BSB and on IG @nmjcbaseball.
