After falling to Clemens in Thursday’s first round action of the three-day NEISD Tournament, the Reagan Varsity Softball team came back swinging on Friday and Saturday to win their next three games and clinch the consolation championship.
In Friday’s action, the Rattlers defeated Harlandale 7-4 and Boerne Champion 13-2. Reagan racked up 22 hits over the two games led by Sadie Eckles (So.) and Mila Mancias (So.) with five hits a piece and Leila Reyes (Jr.) with four. Mancias also led the team with three RBIs, followed by Eckles, Macie Thiel (Jr.), Presley Noriega (So.) and Alyssa Burnett (So.) all with two.
In its final game on Saturday, Reagan came back from an early 0-2 deficit to beat Highlands 3-2. Julia Magi (Sr.), Avery Allen (Jr.), Mila Mancias (So.) and Claire Exstrom (Fr.) each collected one hit.
Pitcher Ally Reyes (Fr.) had another strong tournament, pitching 15 of the 16 total innings played. Reyes fanned 9 batters, while walking only 7.
The Rattlers move to 7-3 on the season as they head back into district play. They will take on Marshall on Tuesday, followed by Lee on Friday.
