Four Lady Rattlers Soccer Players Earn TASCO All-State Honors, TASCO Coaches Season Awards to Coaches McCollum and Nunez

April 26, 2022

Four Lady Rattlers were recognized by Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) with All-State honors, and both Lady Rattlers coaches were also honored by TASCO.

Senior Taylor Jernigan was named First Team All-State – forward. Taylor scored 40 goals this season, topping Reagan’s record for the most goals scored in a season. A season highlight for Taylor was scoring a 35-yard go-ahead goal in the 1-0 victory over Johnson in Round 3 of the playoffs! Taylor was also named back-to-back District 28-6A MVP, First Team All-District – forward, and Academic All-District. Taylor is committed to play soccer for Texas A&M University.

Junior Emily Tredemeyer was named First Team All-State – goalkeeper. A monumental moment for Emily this season was saving three out of four penalty kicks in the dramatic shootout victory over Vandegrift in the second round of the playoffs! Emily was also named Second Team All-District – goalkeeper and Academic All-District.

Junior Brooke Castillo was named Second Team All-State – midfielder. Brooke led the team in assists with 21, including a huge takeaway followed by an assist to Taylor in the Round 3 win over the Jags! She was also the team’s second leading goal scorer with 13 goals. Brooke was also named First Team All-District – midfielder and Academic All-District.

Senior captain Emma O’Brien was named Honorable Mention All-State – defender. Emma led a stingy Rattler back line that allowed less than a goal per game. However, a season highlight for Emma is on the other end of the pitch when she scored the equalizing goal late in the Regional Semifinal game against Brennan to force extra time! The Lady Rattlers went on to score quick 3 goals in extra time, including one assisted by Emma, to win 4-1 and advance to the Region IV Final game! Emma was also named First Team All-District – defender, THSCA Academic All-State – Elite, TASCO Academic All-State, and Academic All-District. In the Fall, Emma will be attending Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

TASCO also honored the Lady Rattlers coaches with Season Awards to Head Coach Kate McCollum and Assistant Coach Christina Nunez. This is Coach Nunez’s first season coaching at Reagan.

Excellent job, ladies! Congratulations on a great season! Strike ’em!!!
