Baseball’s Carver Inks National Letter of Intent to Wichita State University

One week ago today, Cal Carver made his commitment to attend Wichita State official.

Carver is a 3 year starting pitcher for the Rattler varsity baseball team.

As a junior, Carver was 13-3 with 103 strikeouts and a 2.26 ERA, good enough to rank 2nd in wins and 6th in strikeouts overall in Texas Class 6A.  He was named a Perfect Game/Rawlings Preseason Honorable Mention All-American.  Cal was selected 1st team All-District, to the SA Express News All-Area Super Team, 2nd team All-State by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, and 1st team All-State by the Texas Sports Writers Association.  Carver currently ranks in the top 7 for the school records in all 6 categories kept for pitchers.  He was selected to play in the San Antonio High School All-Star Game and invited to the Area Code Tryout.   He participated in the 17U National Championships in Atlanta and was selected to the All-Tournament Team.  He also made the All-Tournament Team at the MLK Classic in Phoenix.

As a sophomore, Cal was 3-1 on the varsity team with a 1.12 ERA.  He made all-tournament teams at the Texas 17/18U State Championships and the Evoshield Classic in Atlanta.

He was recently selected as one of the top 40 high school athletes in San Antonio and was named a Under Armor Preseaon All-American.

We wish Cal continued success in Wichita and look forward to following his career as a member of the Shockers.
