Rattler Track Standout Katie Burnett commits to University of New Orleans

April 23, 2025

Today Katie Burnett signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at the University of New Orleans. The Privateers are in the Southland Conference (SLC) and Katie will run under Head Coach Ben Hibbert who in 2023 led the UNO women to a 3rd place finish in the Outdoor Championships and a 4th place finish in the Indoor Championships, both a program’s best.

For Reagan, Katie is a 3-year Varsity Letterman and a 2024 District, Area and Regional Champion in the 400M Relay and the 800M Relay, which qualified her for the State Meet. For the 2025 Season, she is a Texas Relays Qualifier, a District Champion and a Regional Bronze Medalist in the 400M Relay. Katie also is a Reagan Top 10 Athlete in both the 400M Relay and the 800M Relay.

“Katie is an accomplished athlete, but what sets her apart is her positive attitude and ability to manage the pressure and chaos of an exchange zone. Katie exudes professionalism, instills confidence in her teammates, and competes with grit,” said Reagan Head Girls’ Track Coach Jennifer McHugh.”We are grateful for her leadership and are excited for her future at the University of New Orleans.”
