Rattler Standout Addison Jackson signs with Southwestern for Cross Country and Track

April 23, 2025

Today Addison Jackson signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. The Pirates are in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and Addie will run both Cross Country and track under Head Coach Joe Sponsel. In 2024 the Pirates earned 4th place at the SCAC Championships, punching their ticket to the NCAA West Regional Meet.

Addie started racing in 2nd grade when she ran a 10K with her family. In 6th grade she decided to give High Jump a go. “My dad had done high jump, and it looked really cool, so I decided to try it,” she said. Years later the Rattlers benefitted from these beginnings. Addie qualified for the Regional Cross Crountry Meet her sophomore year and the State Cross Country Meet her senior year, holding a PR of 19.18. Her Senior year she PR’d in the High Jump at 5’4″ and made it through to the Regional Meet. In choosing Southwestern, Addie said, “I had the chance to run with the team and meet Coach Joe, and I really enjoyed the team environment so I know I will have a great time.”

Addie draws inspiration from her parents. “My dad has been running with me as long as I can remember, and has inspired me to do my best and have fun. My mom has taught me to be a stong person and I really look up to her.”

At Southwestern Addie plans on majoring in Biology. You can follow Addie at the next level on instragram at @supiratesxctf
